Harvest of the Volga is the fifth of my novels spinning the stories of the struggles of different German families and their many descendants, as they emigrated ever farther and farther away from the old homeland. This story begins in northern Germany, a three hours walk north of Frankfurt in the year of 1766. A simple married couple, Johannes and Anna Ursula Trippel of Nieder Eschbach, face a terrible fire that destroys all they have. That night would change their lives, and the lives of many others, forever. As you move through the pages of the next 154 years, you will meet many more additional characters spinning out their lives.
