Hauntingly Familiar

en Limba Engleză Paperback
What if your best friend was a ghost? This is 9 year old Ginny's problem when her family moves into a new house in a remote, rural neighbourhood. They claim not to see the sunny faced child who seemed to be their daughter's daily playmate. Why do they call him 'imaginary' when he's as real as anyone to her? Nevermind that the child is always alone, dressed in the same clothes, despite the summer heat, appearing to come and go at will. Despite the difference in their ages, Ginny confides in him. There are strange things happening. Doors slam on their own as she walks past, and footsteps follow her down an empty hallway. Had they moved into a haunted house? In confusion, Ginny looks for answers but the message is universally the same: grow up and stop being dramatic. Stuff like that doesn't happen to people like us. So what was going on? And why does Bobby's portrait hang on the neighbour's wall? "It's not possible," her mother said. "That boy died, months ago. It was a horrible accident." Her mind shrank away. It wasn't true. She just saw him yesterday. He wasn't dead. Everyone knows ghosts aren't real.

Notă biografică

Virginia's unquenchable thirst for the written word started at a precocious eight years of age. She was known to carry around a battered orange duo-tang, scribbling down her thoughts in it, when she wasn't reading everything she could get her hands on. Later, Virginia attended college, prior to pursuing a career in Journalism. In the years that followed, her thoughts turned to more current matters, writing professionally for several local newspapers, before marrying her high school sweetheart and raising two children. It was only recently that Virginia was able to return to her true passion, and in 2011 Virginia published her first full-length novel, Hauntingly Familiar, which was inspired by the notes captured in that same battered orange duotang from her childhood. With the release of her second title, Possessions: A Paranormal Thriller, reader can delight once more in her fascination for the paranormal. So why paranormal thrillers? It might have something to do with the fact that both Hauntingly Familiar and Possessions are auto-biographical. Both of these projects were therapeutic in nature, allowing the author a chance to make peace with her own past. But will she stop there? Heck no! As her imprint suggests, Ghostly Publications will keep producing quality stories that send shivers up and down her readers' spines. Virginia continues to experience other-worldly events that set her creativity afire, and vows that while she has no plans to move into another haunted house, just to satisfy her reading public, she has more than enough haunting experiences to incorporate into her next novel. Virginia and her husband live on a quiet acreage in Mission, British Columbia, where the battered orange duotang has been replaced by a laptop computer. She can often be found in her home office, surrounded by cats, hard at work on her latest project.
