Headteachers Training in Management and Their Competencies

In the spectrum of this damning background, amongst other elements of Education Reform, in 1996 the government of Uganda introduced Headteachers' Management Training Programme for all primary school headteachers in view of building their managerial capacity in order to improve their competencies in management of the primary schools. The programme aimed at furnishing the primary school headteachers with knowledge, skills and competencies to practice effective educational management, personnel and financial resource management, carry out effective school governance, and curriculum management.There was however, a sustained dissatisfaction by the public regarding headteachers' competencies in the management of the primary schools in North-West Nile despite undergoing the Headteachers' Management Training Programme, meant to equip them with the competencies in management of the primary schools that would bear positive results on the learning of the children who are the objects of education. Hence, reason for investigating the influence of the Headteachers' Management Training Programme on the primary headteachers' competencies in management of the primary schools in North-West Nile.
