Recenzii

"Dr. McGowan's approach to empowerment through explanation and encouragement affords an excellent opportunity for the patient to make educated and informed decisions. The scenarios are realistic and convey the message that early identification and attention to potential problems do change the course of destiny. A timely book, well written and researched. A user-friendly guide that will make a difference in the fight against our number one killer."--Daniel J. Rader, MD, Director Preventitve Cardiology Program, University of Pennsylvania Health System
"This readable book should be an invaluable aid to patients with lipid problems and the doctors who treat them. This book should be required reading for all heart patients with elevated blood lipids."--Joseph S. Alpert, M.D., Robert S. and Irene P. Flinn Professor of Medicine and Head, Department of Medicine, The University of Arizona Health Sciences Center
"By including case studies of many of her patients who were able to turn around their life-threatening diagnoses, McGowan adds human interest and immediacy to the repetition of strictures about the unhealthy American lifestyle. A recommended purchase for those seeking a current, all-inclusive cardiac health book."--Library Journal
"I have seen many books published in this area. I have seen none better than the one I just read by Dr. Mary McGowan."--Roger R. Williams, M.D., Director, Cardiovascular Genetics Research Clinic, University of Utah
"Read this book and you can start today to pursue a much healthier way of life."--Dr. William P. Castelli
"Long aware of that genetic cloud hovering over our family (my father and brother had early fatal heart attacks), I am exhilarated that my extensive, often frustrating, search for current comprehensive, comprehensible information about inherited high cholesterol finally led to the treasure-trove, Heart Fitness for Life"--Kitty Fixx, Trustee of the Inherited High Cholesterol Foundation
"Although well-grounded in conventional medicine, McGowan takes the holistic approach. She assesses how heart disease affects a person's life while explaining how to adopt a diet, exercise, and smoking-cessation program, if necessary."--Elizabeth Hiser, Eating Well
