In lands distant and times forgotten existed an age of savage violence: no quarter was given and no mercy was shown. The weak were trampled into the dust and the innocent were slaughtered without thought. Mountains rose with corpses and rivers ran red with blood. Only the strong and ruthless stood any chance of survival, and most of these cared little for the fate of others, or for the righteousness of their deeds.
