It is always exceptionally sad when young children die; but if a parent has to bury a child amidst a city-wide coverup & scandalous efforts by the legal system to sweep that death aside, it's one hundred times more devastating. This book was written in fond memory of my beloved first son, William. He was tragically killed in a senseless hit-and-run accident by a childhood friend, one block away from their homes. This fortuity occurred one week prior to the start of William's career in the U.S. Marines. Eyewitnesses stated that in the darkness of the night, William haphazardly placed himself on the trunk of an identified driver's car. This was an incautious effort to persuade his friends (who had flagged down a ride prior to his arrival) not to leave the area. While requesting to know the identity of the non-visible passengers, the driver became agitated with this unauthorized placement and alerted the other teens to brace themselves as he sped off. As William clung to the trunk yelling for the driver (who was still unknown to him) to stop so that he could walk; the driver began swerving in a manner that catapulted William onto the street. When passengers alerted the assailant of the mishap, he responded with derogatory profanity, a strong racist epithet and intent to teach William a lesson. Once this culprit viewed William's serious injuries, he attempted to stop eye-witnesses and neighbors from calling for ambulatory assistance. He then tried to persuade those witnesses to leave the scene of the crime with him before the police arrived. After fleeing to his home, he took a shower and went to bed; failing to alert his family of the inhumane crimes & William's life threatening injuries until after the police arrested him. I remember looking into William's handsome face one minute, which was a cross between a young vivacious Muhammad Ali & healthy Emmett Till; then an hour later his skin was so badly mangled & torn from his face that he looked like a disfigured replicated cross between Freddy Kruger & the grotesque Emmett Till after he was tortured; then placed on display for the world to ingest. Needless to say that a part of me also died that night as I saw William's lifeless body laying there on a hospital slab. As I was forced to hit the streets, as my own private investigator, a surprising scandalous cover-up was revealed on behalf of some city lawyers, hospital officials & dignitaries within the judicial system. This led to an attempted suicide by my wife and her placement in several mental health asylums. Prior to William's death I enjoyed an illustrious career as an assistant principal, but I had to overcome a bitter divorce battle. I was falsely accused by my in-laws of incest, child molestation, robbery, rape, & spousal abuse.This led to fierce investigations of my private life by CPS, police & school officials. In completion of my memoirs, I wish to pay special homage to the most extreme personages in my life. First and foremost, I must thank my Heavenly Father for He has kept His tender loving arms wrapped around my entire life. After bouts of anger with Him & feeling forsaken by Him, I turned to a life of infidelity, promiscuity & prostitution; followed by thoughts of suicide & wicked retaliation against the hit-and-run driver. I finally realized that it was only through my love for God, my biological children & school family; was I able to ward off years of grief, depression, personal nightmares & the family curse highlighted by William's death. It was only through God's love for me that I overcame those violent storms; prior to an involuntary manslaughter conviction for the culprit.
