Her, Second Edition
Autor Cherry Muhanji Cuvânt după de Mattie Richardsonen Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 aug 2006
“Her is a novel whose words refuse to be constrained by the boundaries of its pages. Like jazz that reaches out to both heart and gut. . . . From a central core of strong women characters, Cherry Muhanji experiments and elaborates, playing variations, solos, and combinations up and down the register. Her creation is both eye--opening and sensual.”—Erica Bauermeister, author of 500 Great Books by Women
This rowdy, irreverent novel explores relationships among a community of black women—mothers and daughters, friends and lovers—who came to Detroit in the late 1950s to work the lines at the Ford Motor plant.

Notă biografică
Cherry Muhanji received her Ph.D. in English, anthropology, and African American World Studies from the University of Iowa. She grew up in Detroit and worked as a telephone lineman until she started university at the age of 40. The first edition of Her received a Ferro-Grumley award. Muhanji presently teaches English and the history of jazz in Oregon. Mattie Richardson received her Ph.D. in African American Studies from the UC Berkeley. In teaching Muhanji's Her she couldn't find any literary critical work on the text, so included a chapter in her own dissertation. She writes: "I have found Muhanji's novel to be an astonishing work of Black theorizing of gender, race and sexuality."
