Hey Rocky, Who Took Northern Ontario?

Autor James R. Bear
en Limba Engleză Paperback
This cheeky political book lampoons Ontario's politicians for failing to understand the vastness of their own province. In this political fable, the author divides the province into Raccoon Country (Southern Ontario) and Bear Country (Northern Ontario). The King Raccoon of the day is named Galton McDinty who is served by Monsters of Education, Monsters of Roads and Monsters of Lakes, Trees & Critters who are all incapable of understanding the Bear Folks up north in Bear Country. Northern politicians are also lambasted for their failure to represent the needs and aspirations of their own constituents. The book is illustrated with maps that southerners might find upside down as well as amusing pictures of Bears and Raccoons. Steven's book is a groundbreaker as it raises the issue of creating a new Province in Canada, or having the northwest of Ontario adhere to the Province of Manitoba. Both of these options would allow the 240,000 people of Northern Ontario to have meaningful political representation in Canada.
