The Tennessee 6th Infantry Regiment (Union) was organized at Boston and Williamsburg, Ky., April 18, 1862. After participating in the battles around Cumberland gap they fought in the Atlanta Campaign from Chattanooga until the fall of Atlanta, joined in the pursuit of Hood to Franklin and Nashville, and ended the war in North Carolina. They lost during service 1 Officer and 43 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 157 Enlisted men by disease, Total 201. Companies of the Tennessee 6th Infantry Regiment Co. "A" - Men from Knox and Blount Counties. Co. "B" - Men from Knox County. Co. "C" - Enrolled in Knox County, April 18, 1862 Co. "D" - Enrolled in Knox County, April 18, 1862. Co. "E" - Men from Claiborne County; mustered out June 30, 1865. Co. "F" - Men from Campbell County; mustered out March 24, 1865. Co. "G" - Enrolled in Knox County.
