So most upstanding citizens huddle at home during the night, waiting for the next day's sun to rise before stirring from hiding; most "normal" citizens will leave the thieves, muggers and murderers to their devious deeds after nightfall. And these murderers are not of our world in the usual sense of things-they're more like powerful spirits with a lust for human blood and human hearts. Even so, some people do go out at night, even Cheru's innocent young sister Kitty. But to do so you take on great risk. So why would young and impressionable Kitty even consider going out at night?
