The position of Naipaul as a writer is debatable whether he is colonial or postcolonial. The colonial perspective on Naipaul's works was covered entirely by critics pertaining to the societies generally known as uncivilized. However, no critic analyzed how the colonial perspective in Naipaul's works was reflected in his point of view on Islam. The book analyzes in detail the colonial perspective of Islam in Naipaul's two travel books.
