A dark sense of unease, suspense and anticipation became an overwhelming force, made all the more obvious when the sound of a single toll from one of the servants' bells echoed through the room... Of all the experiences I may have expected to witness during my stay at Borsham Rectory, I can safely say that the one I now found myself a willing and eager participant was not on the list...
