On September 1995 Mian Manzoor Wattoo was removed from chief ministership as a result of a no confidence parliamentary motion. His successor Sardar Arif Nakai was from the PPP All of a sudden the scenario changed and all became OK. The Federal Governments opposition to the two private roads became lukewarm and Arif Nakai resumed the two projects still under bidding. Unfortunately before final work could start on these two projects the PPP regime was removed in November 1996 My father seeing little scope for future of private roads resigned from Punjab Highway Authority in January 1997. In early 1998 Nawaz Sharif succeeded as prime minister Nawaz Sharif was opposed to both projects as these were seen by him as a brainchild of his arch opponent Mian Manzoor Wattoo. In 1998 the entire concept of private roads was buried in Pakistan The Pakistani federal governments real motivation against private roads was the fact that its key stakeholders could not pocket private commissions in private roads Lahore Ring Road which would have been ready in 1999 as a private road is still not ready till today It was awarded to Pakistani militarys company NLC disregarding all bidding procedures by Shahbaz Sharif and is a proof of NLCs incompetence Pindi Bhattian Motorway was finally constructed mis-using Pakistani tax payers money and was again arbitrarily awarded violating all bidding procedures by Pakistans usurper ruler Musharraf It took many years to contruct and was only commissioned around 2007. In civilized states, the state strives for development of its people and infrastructure but Pakistan is an opposite case
