How Seattle Sucks and What to Do About It

Autor Josh Feit, Erica Barnett
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 30 dec 2035
Cities matter. And Seattle is supposed to be one the better ones. But is it really? Think of this as a spirited salon with the brightest thinkers in town (Dan Bertolet and Charles Mudede among them) all weighing in on a variety of topics that address the overarching concern of what makes this a vital, creative, and livable city. How do we get things done around here (that would be the infamous Seattle Way political process)? Is there any hope for this place when it comes to transportation? Everyone says schools are important, but what's our honest GPA? Does urban density mean I have to give up my parking place? Is there something in the water that makes us so passive-aggressive? Technology makes (some) of us rich and lots of collective energy is consumed by it--is that a good thing? So for anyone in the Seattle area who has been stuck in traffic, or wondered why it takes a decade to make a decision about a bridge, or felt the social cold front among peers--this book is both rant, rave, and revelation about Seattle, as it is and as we wish it would be.

Notă biografică

Founded in January 2009, PubliCola is a blog about Seattle written by journalists who are dedicated to nonpartisan, original daily reporting that prioritizes a balanced approach to news. Started by longtime local editor and award-winning reporter Josh Feit, PubliCola is the first online-only news site in state history to get media credentials to cover the state capitol. PubliCola was off and running.

In June 2009, PubliCola hired another award-winning journalist, super-sourced Seattle city hall reporter Erica C. Barnett.

In June 2012, after three and a half years on the beat establishing its reputation as a politics news must-read, SagaCity Media, owner of the Seattle monthly magazine Seattle Metropolitan, seeking to expand its own local politics coverage, bought PubliCola.
