In terms of market size, community–based education is growing.  Many medical schools now use community–based medical education to cover a wide range of their undergraduate curriculum. UK medical schools devote upto 35% of their curricular time to community–based medical education and approximately a third of UK GP practices are engaged with undergraduate medical education. Community–based teaching has increased in the last 10 years with the trend for further increase likely due to UK Government proposals to change the NHS structure and healthcare delivery.

Primary Market:  Undergraduate medical students.
There are approximately 8,000 medical students accepted per year onto UK & Irish programmes, even excluding intercalated students that gives a student population of 40,000 at any one time.  All will have community placements, and primary care/general practice placements. Many Schools have community based teaching across both early clinical years and later clinical years, and sometimes across all years.
Secondary Market: academic staff in departments of primary care, medical education and general practice, and to medical educators in associated NHS institutions
