Hudson's National Guard Militia: Images of America (Arcadia Publishing)

Autor William L. Verdone, Lewis Halprin
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 28 feb 2006
Of the many National Guard units in Massachusetts, the Hudson unit is recognized as being one of the best. Since 1866, the unit has participated in each of the combat arms: the infantry, armor, cavalry, and artillery branches. Members of Hudson's National Guard have been automobile mechanics, machinists, shoemakers, draftsmen, furniture builders, carpenters, short-order cooks, factory workers, and farmers, and they all contribute something unique to the company. These men believe in what they do, train hard to perfect their skills, and help the newly commissioned officers learn how to manage personnel.

Notă biografică

William L. Verdone joined the Hudson National Guard unit as a high school senior. As a corporal, he attended officer candidate school in Boston and graduated as a second lieutenant. He later held other leadership roles, such as tank platoon leader, and eventually became the 43rd captain of the Hudson National Guard unit. In 1986, he retired as a lieutenant colonel after 34 years of military service. Lewis Halprin has written about the Hudson area for many years, and this is his seventh Arcadia book. He enjoys helping the community learn about its outstanding figures and fascinating history.
