Clayton Sutter was born in 1919 in the Mennonite community of Tazewell County, Illinois, and came of age near Kouts, Porter County, Indiana. In conversations with his friend and neighbor Rachel Kreider he reflects on the experiences of a lifetime: farm life in the Middle West, alternative service during World War II, a career in church institutions, retirement, family relationships, and social change.
