I Am Ready Now brings to light events in the life of Ephraim Hanks which are not widely known or have been hidden in archives of the past. Ephraim came from colonial roots in New England. Unknown to him in his early years was the significant role he would play in helping the Latter-day Saints settle the West. Riding the Pony Express from Missouri to California, negotiating with Native Americans and building settlements, he was well known throughout the West. With the additional challenge of raising a large family, his mettle was tested and his spirit refined. Ever loyal to President Brigham Young and other leaders of the Church, Ephraim was never known to refuse an assignment.
