The Ibibio society as a specific sub-system is developmentally very young relative to most other sub-systems in the larger Nigerian society. Though the Ibibio traditional society left nothing tangible in terms of monumental buildings as were found in other cultures, it however developed a highly sophisticated system of regional planning bringing to focus the very subtle relationships between the people's belief systems and their value for open spaces. This book identifies the elements of their peculiar architecture.
