Identity and Alterity

Editat de Ge Tze-Wan Kwan, Chan-Fai Cheung, Kwok-Ying Lau
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 mai 2006
This book presents new results of phenomenological research into the philosophical problems of "Identity and Alterity." Its contributions continue and enrich the discussion about these central topics by placing them in a broader intercultural context. It deals both with questions about cultural tradition in general and about specific traditions, especially in East Asia. It also reflects differences between the "Western" style of the phenomenological tradition and cultural traditions of thinking the other and the alien established in East Asia. This publication brings together papers that were presented in the first PEACE (Phenomenology for East-Asian Circle) International Conference, which was held in May 2004 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Phenomenological philosophers from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan, who share a cultural heritage, as well as scholars from Europe and the USA, discussed the problems of "Identity and Alterity."
