Alan Geyer is Professor Emeritus of Political Ethics and Ecumenics at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

The resurgence of conservative ideology since the mid-1970s has been accompanied by aggressive assaults on mainline churches and ecumenical bodies.
