At thirty years old Anna Ortiz is a captivating, strong and independent single girl living in Chicago. Having been left an orphan at the tender age of eighteen, Anna has built for herself a life that is nothing more than impressive, by accomplishing her goal of having her own business on the Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago.

Anna a girl who lives her life to please God above all else is put to the test when she meets the handsome and wealthy bachelor Derek Anderson. Derek falls deeply in love with the girl with olive skin and long black hair despite their differences in social status, race and ethnicity. To Anna's great dismay since their love is forbidden in the eyes of God, for the simple fact that Derek Anderson lives life by his own terms. And neither believes nor cares for a God, who in his mind is far away from the day to day struggle of everyday people. Derek is of the notion that anyone believing in such a God is simply credulous, weak and ignorant. Anna's eagerness to obey God at all cost only makes him more determine to win her heart. Will Anna give into Derek's advances? Will Derek's love be enough to tempt her?

As luck would have it, Anna's path will cross by accident with Geraldine Anderson, Derek's mother. A woman who lives to be right at all cost. Geraldine takes great pride in treating Anna with prejudice and will harshly discriminate against her, simply for the color of her skin. Even more so, after she finds out that Anna is Derek's love interest. Determined to prove Geraldine wrong Anna suffers Geraldine's full hatred when at a Christmas party she is humiliated in front of a large crowd that cares not for the weak and meek of this world. How will Anna react at the face of racism? Will Geraldine harsh treatment break Anna's confidence and trust in God?

Anna's journey to finding true happiness is not an easy one, but instead is one that test her character at every turn. Yet when all seems lost, in an unexpected way, Anna's greatest wish will become a reality and her life will never be the same.
