In a society where dragons are not accepted, an eleven year old girl is approached by one following an unexpected tragedy. She gratefully accepts companionship with the mystical creature without regard to it not being "normal." Throughout her childhood, the girl feels conflicted as she desperately tries to balance between the harrows of reality and her dragon's insight, eventually deciding that she must make a choice between the two realms.
