This verse is for all who need to realize what a brain injury is as well as for those surviving traumatic brain injury or their caregivers. It stems from surviving one from a car wreck. I was left with few methods of expression, so this became an outlet. During my second period of therapy, its focus was my brain. At this stage, I have problems with attention, yet this was easily solved with friends who introduced me to haiku and couplets, thus challenging my brain with the more difficult free and blank verse. This book of verse has been awaited since I finished my inpatient therapy stint in 1991. It's been in the making for the last decade and a half. A lot of thinking and meditation and a little composing and a lot more revising was essential in the process. In the acute stage of my injury, reality taught me that one survives for and by love. I hope this book can just teach that a brain injury is not the end but an event where an individual can prevail ultimately.
