It is 1960, the cusp of one of the most colorful and important decades of the century. A generation is questioning the traditions and values of generations before. And this questioning leads to revolutions, sometimes peaceful, sometimes violent. There is Women's Liberation, The Free Speech Movement, riots in Watts, a bloody Democratic Convention, an unpopular war, and the assassinations of heroes. Jeffrey Grayson is ending college as this decade begins. He is ready to proceed the way his father did: high income career, beautiful wife, lovely house, and anything else he might need. He has no intention of changing things as they are. And then he starts getting letters from a little girl in Nogales. His friends become embroiled in what they see as a revolution. As much as he would have it otherwise, the wave sweeps him up and carries him along. Meet his friends Cecil Letgo, a brilliant philosophizing pharmacist; Vince, a leader in the anti-war movement, Nancy, a feminist; Ratch and Zephr who run a commune; and, most importantly Lupe and Zafie who are there to make sure Jeffrey's life changes forever.
