Notă biografică
PAUL R. DETTMAN began a career as an intelligence analyst at the American Embassy in London and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., after serving in the Army Air Force./e A radical vocational change brought him in 1952 to the American College in Madurai, India, where he spent the next decade as Bursar and English lecturer. His days in India ended with two years of organizing social welfare services in the slums of Madras City. Returning to the United States in 1969, he worked until his retirement in 1987 as an environmental planner engaged in a Clean Water Act project to put out the fires in the Cuyahoga River and bring Lake Erie back to life. In 1996 he began to write about the contemporary Indian scene.
