India's Animals: Helping the Sacred and the Suffering

Autor Michael W. Fox, Deanna L. Krantz
en Limba Engleză Paperback – aug 2016
Deanna Krantz established the India Project for Animals & Nature, operating an animal shelter and refuge, with full veterinary services, in the UNESCO designated Nilgiris Global Biosphere Reserve in Tamil Nadu, South India. Our involvement in India, as the following reports demonstrate, met opposition from various quarters, notably by those with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo of animal exploitation and purported exemplary animal welfare and protection, and who did not want to see the false world-image of India as a spiritual culture, where all living beings are regarded as sacred, tarnished in any way by the facts that we uncovered. But we earned the respect dedicated support of indigenous peoples who realized the connections between their well-being and the health and welfare of the animals, wild and domesticated, opening the path of compassion in action for the good of all.
