Secretary-General of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation since 2001. Moni Malhoutra was formerly Assistant Secretary-General of the Commonwealth (1982-93) and a member of the Board of Directors of International IDEA the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, Stockholm from 1996 to 2003. Educated in Delhi and Oxford, he was a member of the Indian Administrative Service from 1961 to 1978 and served in the Secretariat of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1966 to 1973. He then moved to London to the Commonwealth Secretariat, where he played a leading role in Commonwealth efforts to end apartheid in South Africa.Contributors include:Ahmad, Aijaz Prof. Aijaz Ahmad currently holds the Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Chair at Jamia Millia, New Delhi, and serves as the Senior Editorial consultant for Frontline, Chennai. In addition to his role as Business Group President of Asia, Vindi is also the Chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd., India's largest consumer goods company with sales of over Rs 10,000 crores. Hindustan Lever employs over 41,000 people and is one of India's highest valued companies. Vindi is actively involved on the Boards and Managing Committees of many trade and non-trade bodies including CII, Assocham, IIM Ahmedabad and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He is a member of the Wharton Asia and International Boards, the India advisory panel to International Enterprise, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore and the Prime Minister's Council on Trade ߢIndustry, Govt. of India. Vindi is also a Director on the Board of Maruti Udyog, India largest car company. He is 49 years old, married with two sons and enjoys swimming ߢgolf.Benegal, Shyam One of the pioneers of the new cinema in India, Shyam Benegal has been considered one of the leading film-makers of the country ever since his first feature film, Ankur was released. His films have been seen and acclaimed widely in India and at International film festivals for the last three decades. He has also made a number of documentaries on different subjects while his work on television consists of several popular series based on national and international stories and includes the mammoth 53 part series on the history of India based on Jawaharlal Nehru's book Discovery of India. He has also made an extra-mural educational series for rural children sponsored by UNICEF.Shyam Benegal taught mass-communication techniques between 1966 and 1973 and later took an active role in shaping film education as Chairman of the Film Television Institute of India during 1980-83 and 1989-92.Shyam Benegal was part of the National Integration Council (1986-89) and the National Council of Art. The Government of India has conferred on him two of its most prestigious awards - Padma Shri (1976) And Padma Bhushan (1991).Bery, Suman K. Suman K.
