Indirect Care Handbook for Advanced Nursing Roles: Beyond the Bedside addresses the indirect care responsibilities that confront nurses in a variety of advanced practice roles. Indirect care includes services related to patient care that do not require interaction between the healthcare provider and the patient. Examples include charting and scheduling. The purpose of this text is to provide indirect role instruction and guidance to all nurses, especially nurses new to the role or a particular type of advanced responsibility, and to ensure they are adequately prepared to assume advanced practice and administrative responsibilities.
