Injured Cougar

en Limba Engleză Paperback
Injured Cougar is a romantic fantasy about a senior woman who has reached a crossroads in her life. After working for forty-five years in difficult, high-stress jobs, she now finds herself in retirement and in a round-the-clock care-giver role supporting her 97 year-old mother. After her mother's death, she discovers that she is rapidly losing her health. She will soon be a cripple and painfully wheel-chair bound unless she takes draconian measures to save herself. Still a spry, attractive-looking woman who could pass for a woman ten years younger, she is still slim, knows how to dress well and is intellectually capable and fun-loving. She tells herself that she "has just begun to fight and this time the fight is for her." She searches for the best orthopedic surgeon to perform two difficult joint replacement operations-a total knee replacement and a hip revision and a second hip replacement on the same hip. She makes an excellent choice in the surgeon-one of the best in North America. Then she discovers that he has a dark secret that she must share with him in order to survive. She ends up saving them both.

Notă biografică

VIOLET LEE HUNT is a Colorado native, born and raised in Boulder. A fan of the short story writing genre and prolific author of numerous short story collections, Ms. Hunt began her writing career as a budding journalist in high school and college, working as an editor and reporter for the school newspapers. During her college years, her interests moved in a different direction. After receiving degrees in chemistry and computer science from the University of Colorado she refocused her creative writing abilities toward technical writing while pursuing a successful career as a computer engineer and corporate executive in the computer science field. In addition she has been a science and math teacher, lecturer and business owner. She founded her own business processing company Vi Hunt, Inc. (2000-2006) in Boulder, Colorado. An author of two previously published books on computer science, Ms. Hunt has written and conducted numerous workshops on software engineering. In addition she authored a monthly column on information engineering for IBM for two years. Since leaving the computer engineering industry, Ms. Hunt has returned to her early roots and today actively commits her time and energies to her two biggest passions-creative writing and travel to exotic destinations. A mother, grandmother, and animal lover, she is a prolific writer of short stories and books for the senior women market. Her books are filled with spark and excitement, with many of her stories centered around the love lives of couples, unrequited love, as well as love gone sour. The characters in her stories are tinged with vacillating elements of sadness and glory, full of confidence, yet vulnerable to the varied passions that love's wind blows. Her two currently published books of short stories are Lavender Muse: Three Short Stories About Women Who Find True Friends in Former Strangers and Patterns of Deceit: Four Couples' Stories of Love Lost. Her forthcoming book titles include Injured Cougar: A Romantic Fantasy; Cottage in the Clouds; Notes from the Past: A Rocky Mountain Adventure, and Growing Up on Concord. Ms. Hunt lives in Estes Park, Colorado, with her two cats.
