Notă biografică

Jouko Nikula (born 1954) is Senior Researcher at the Centre for Russian and Eastern European Studies at University of Helsinki. He received his M.A. in Sociology at University of Tampere (1982) and PhD. at University of Tampere (1996). He has extensively studied the transformation of class structure and the development of middle classes in post-socialist societies, especially the formation of class of private entrepreneurs. Ivan Tchalakov (born 1960) is Associate Professor at Department of Institutional and Applied Sociology, University of Plovdiv, and senior research fellow at Technology Studies Group, Institute of Studying Societies and Knowledge, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He got M.A. in Sociology at University of Sofia (1984) and PhD at Institute of Sociology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1988). Between 1999 and 2003 he was elected as president of Bulgarian Sociological Association. Since the mid-1990s he has also extensively studied the transformation of the research and innovation systems in post-socialist countries and focuses on science and technology development in South-Eastern Europe after WW II.
