en Limba Engleză Paperback

During the early 1900s, Detective Inspector Chris Hardie and his trusted Detective Sergeant George House of Winchester Criminal Investigation Department (CID), investigated the murders, which seem to have no motives or reasons. The cases were complicated, but after many twists and turns, they were able to solve the cases.

In the early 1900s, Winchester was a small compact city of about twenty thousand people, dominated by the Cathedral with many communal packed streets, all within easy reach of the main high street. The high street was long, and upwards, but most of the shops with their bow fronted windows or open fronted was situated at the bottom end, around the Guildhall. The street lights ran on gas and were lit by teams of lamplighters. Roads leading both ways from the High Street, was also full of shops, pubs, barbers, rag and bone merchants, butchers and even a stable for horses all made up the bustle of the Winchester High Street.

It was a friendly town, in which most everybody knew each other. Murders and violent crimes were relatively rare, however murders, rapes, violent crimes occurred, most of the crimes were young lads scrumping apples, children on their way to school trying to pinch a sweet from the many sweet shops in the town, very few crimes were committed that warranted the birch, or imprisonment.

Detective Inspector Chris Hardie and his team Detective Sergeant Fred Willett and Detective Sergeant George House, investigated the murders, investigations were not always straightforward, range from the very simple straightforward to the very complex and complicated, the detectives were taking a meticulous approach to gathering the information needed.
