India is endowed with a rich wealth of Medicinal plants, which have contributed to the development of ancient Indian materia medica. Eventhough there has been a tremendous development in the field of synthetic drugs and antibiotics during the recent years, plants still remain one of the major sources of drugs in traditional as well as in modern medicine throughout the world. Among them, the Glory lily (Gloriosa superba L.) has attracted large-scale cultivation in recent times. In Ayurvedic system of medicine, the underground rhizomes are used as an anthelosintic, anti-inflammatory and anti-leprotic drug.It is useful in demotosis, piles, chronic ulcers, colic pain and as a cataplasm in neuralgic pains. Since the discovery of colchicine in Gloriosa, a number of researchers have turn into this herb and established that Gloriosa could serve as a commercial source of colchicine. Even though it was becoming commercially important medicinal plant the management practices still needs attention. This book tries to deal with the nutrient management practices and try to give broad range of view on this aspect.
