In 1916 Bandelier National Monument was established by proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson to protect and preserve for public enjoyment and education in the large Pueblo settlements and spectacular cave dwellings of the southern Pajarito Plateau. This volume explores the use of the area that now is the Bandelier National Monument after the incursion of the Spaniards into New Mexico, from the first impacts of the European presence to the present day.
