Notă biografică
Giulia Ricciardi is a professor in the Physics Department E. Pancini at the University of Naples Federico II. She received her PhD in Theoretical Physics with highest honors from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. She was a postdoctoral fellow and a research associate at Harvard University, and she has worked at leading universities and research institutions both in Italy and abroad. She has received various awards for her scientific contributions and has been nominated to several international scientific committees evaluating major research projects. Her research interests include flavour physics, quantum field theory, neutrino physics. She has authored a large number of significant publications and co-authored a book on CP violation. She collaborates with several experimental groups and is a theorist member of the T2K collaboration. Since 2006, she has founded and chaired an ongoing series of international conferences on particle physics.
Textul de pe ultima copertă
This textbook offers a clear and concise introduction to the main aspects of neutrino physics, providing the foundational knowledge necessary for research in both theoretical and experimental fields. It presents field theory concepts in a highly self-contained manner and explains the main experimental techniques and phenomenological aspects of neutrino and particle physics with clarity and scientific rigor. Specialized jargon and traditionally ambiguous concepts are carefully explained. The book’s didactic style focuses on a selected number of key topics, enriched with numerous figures and examples. Significant recent advancements in theory and experiments are described within their physical context, avoiding technical details likely to become outdated soon. This book will be invaluable not only for students of particle physics but also as a concise reference for researchers in other fields seeking an up-to-date understanding of essential concepts in neutrino physics.
