Dr. Cathrin Olsen holds a Doctorate in Naturology and is a member of the American Alternative Medical Association. Her background in the medical field as a Registered Nurse has provided her with extensive experience, contributing to her well-rounded knowledge, both in the holistic and medical field.
Dr. Olsen's initial career years took her through the demanding work within the psychiatric and chemical dependency field. The years following she spent as a home health nurse specializing in Infusion Therapy; providing chemotherapy, antibiotic therapy as well as total nutritional therapy to patients. She then turned her attention to assessing psychiatric patients in their home and concentrated on being a liaison for Hospice; working with dying patients as well as their families.
Throughout her career as a Registered Nurse, Dr. Olsen noticed an immense correlation between food intake, physical ailment and behavior.
Her real challenge came as her youngest child had enormous difficulties coping with every day life. After receiving her Doctorate she decided to dedicate herself to researching alternative options for ADD, ADHD and Ritalin use.
Dr. Olsen's extensive research in the USA as in Europe, especially Germany, has reiterated her findings about the distinct correlation between food intake, physical ailments and behavior patterns.
Her determination and diligent work has cumulated in a delightful and very informative book "Is this really my child?" She focuses on "temperamentally difficult" children and provides a refreshing innovative approach as well as profound assistance to parents dealing with their children. Dr. Olsen does not believe in labeling children as ADD and ADHD, as a result referring to these children as temperamentally difficult.
Over the years she has volunteered her time for the Battered Wife shelter, Women health groups, Parent Teacher Association, Youth organizations and as a family liaison with the US Navy. Dr. Olsen lives in Coronado, California with her husband, 5 children and their Golden Retriever.
