Church Law is not an immutable monolithic block, but always a Ius Semper Reformandum.
Pope Francis carried in his pontificate already out numerous legislative changes like his predecessors John Paul II and Benedict XVI. did likewise. The Codex Iuris Canonici of 1983 and the Codex Canonum Ecclesiarum Orientalium of 1990 have been amended or supplemented since their promulgation in various Canons. The science of Church Law has always accompanied the development of the Law of the church and, especially since the last Council, has made various proposals for reform. This volume understands itself in this tradition and wants, in the sense of the sentire cum Ecclesia, not only to describe the status quo of Church Law de lege lata, but wants to take into consideration the question of possible reform proposals de lege ferenda in the central law areas of constitutional law, proclamation law and sacramental law from different perspectives in the light of the council and the past developments and risings in the church. It becomes clear that reform in the Church remains in the responsibility of all the members of the people of God, being united in the common priesthood.
