Die Beitrge setzen sich im Sinne einer Europischen Ethnologie und Kulturanthropologie mit dem gestiegenen Komplexittsniveau der niederlndischen Gesellschaft auseinander. Ihr besonderes Interesse gilt der Beschreibung und Analyse des Zusammenspiels unterschiedlicher Komponenten von Fremd- und Selbstwahrnehmung, von Identitten-Generierung und von Formen der Lebensgestaltung. Ihre Analysen knpfen an aktuelle gesellschaftspolitische Debatten um 'Zuwanderung', 'Integration', 'niederlndische Kultur' und 'kulturelles Erbe' an.


The Netherlands has a great deal of experience with a society that is characterised by a high level of diversity and by particularism.
The articles in this volume examine the increased level of complexity in Dutch society. They focus in particular on describing and analysing the relationships between different components of self-perception and perception of the other, of identity formation and of individual ways of life. In doing so, they offer insights into everyday culture in the Netherlands and provide a critical commentary on the current socio-political debates on 'immigration', 'integration', 'Dutch culture' and 'cultural heritage'.
