Jenny Giraffe and the Streetcar Party: Jenny Giraffe

Jenny Giraffe is well known to all her French Quarter neighbors. A respected painter among the artists of New Orleans, she is now a special part of the unusual culture of this downtown area.
Today Jenny is going on a trip to neighborhoods she has never visited before. She has been invited to a birthday party for her friend T-Boy. And of all places, the party is on a streetcar!
Jenny takes a ride on the historic St. Charles Avenue streetcar. Decorated with ribbons and balloons and filled with happy children, the streetcar makes its way through parts of town Jenny has yet to discover. Striking out into the American and University sections, she learns about the history of the city outside of her regular environs of the French Quarter. Plus, Jenny discovers the zoo, where she suspects she can find her mother!
Jenny Giraffe and the Streetcar Party is a clever introduction to the history of the Garden District, Uptown New Orleans, and the St. Charles Streetcar Line. It helps children appreciate the unique scenery of the city while encouraging them to recognize similar attractions in their own neighborhoods.
