Jerry Thorpe and the Misfits is a tale that illustrates the age-old dilemma of the "new kid" trying to fit in. Thirteen-year-old, Jerry Thorpe, has high hopes of becoming known and well-liked at his new school; and he sets out on a mission to do just that However, a group of outcasts-an unpopular bunch, known as the Misfits, get to him before he can, even, make his all-important first impression. Trying-desperately-to steer clear of the Misfits, Jerry joins the school's most notorious gang. He ends up doing despicable things and getting into trouble. Before long, he discovers that being popular isn't what it's cracked up to be-especially after his gang turns on him. On top of feeling all alone and struggling with the choices he'd made, Jerry finds himself in a "life or death" situation. Seeing no way out, he calls upon God to help him-but, as we all know, "God works in mysterious ways," and He brings about a most unexpected solution.
