Recenzii
'This historically sober work offers serious challenges to the views of such scholars as Crossan, Koester, and Mack, while placing Jesus squarely in his Jewish Palestinian environment. This is careful historical reconstruciton at its best.'
Paul Moser, New Metzger Festschrift, 1995.
'For those interested in learning about the real historical Jesus in his first century cultural context and not the imagined Jesus of many contemporary scholars, Evans' book is a place to continue that study.'
Ed. Religious and Theological Studies Fellowship Bulletin, 1995.
'Evans is to be congratulated on producing quite a coherent work from various fragments. Above all, he has succeeded in producing a work which both makes a point [...] and can serve as a reference work. ...an excellent work.'
Clive Marsh Theology, 1996.
'This large and beautifully printed collection of essays is an excellent resource for the current discussion of the historical Jesus, and itself a substantial contribution to the discussion.'
M. Eugene Boring, Shofar, 1996.
'...soundly based, tightly argued and massively well documented...the familiarity with original sources, impressive coverage of scholarly literature and clear-headed style of argument make this collection a treasury for scholars concerned with historical Jesus questions.'
L.W. Hurtado, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, 1999.
