John Calvin on the Visions of Ezekiel: Historical and Hermeneutical Studies in John Calvin's 'sermons inédits', especially on Ezek. 36-48: Kerkhistorische Bijdragen, cartea 21
Autor Erik A. de Boeren Limba Engleză Hardback – 12 oct 2003
The first part of this study focuses on the history of patristic, medieval and 16th century exegesis of Ezekiel. The second part is a systematic theological analysis of the hermeneutical principles of Calvin's exposition of visionary revelation. Finally, the sermons on the visions of Ezek. 36-48, a unique specimen of literal historical exegesis with a christological perspective, are analysed.

Recenzii
“This is a valuable study which sets the Ezekiel sermons in the context of previous expositions, explores Calvin's sources, expounds the teaching of the sermons and compares this with the stance of others. As the author is almost the only person to have read these sermons since the sixteenth century, there is much for Calvin scholars to learn and the volume will make an excellent companion to the edition of the sermons, when this appears.” – A.N.S. Lane, in: Lux Mundi (2005)
“… this monograph offers an engaging and important contribution to research on Calvin's exegesis. It is an admirable addition to the growing study of Calvin's homiletical works and will surely encourage further study of his Ezekiel sermons.” – Jon Balserak, in: The Sixteenth Century Journal (2005)
“...the book in the whole is a model of thorough and careful scholarship…” – William Young, in: Renaissance Quarterly
