Important note: Chart settings in the book use - chitrapaksha lahiri ayanamsha, mean nodes (rahu/ketu), South Indian format (rasi, navamsa), vimshottari dasha, and 7 Jaimini chara karakas. A reader of this book will benefit considerably if he/she has some background in Jyotish basics and Karma doctrine or Hindu dharma philosophy. However, I do cover basics of karma, dharma and jyotish. My aim in writing this book is to A. Document the connection between Karma and Jyotish Shastra using quotes from scriptures. B. Demonstrate that Jyotish Shastra works with practical examples. C. Connect the dots to build a holistic picture of Sanatana Dharma/Hindu Philosophy. Few traditional Jyotishis have used Puranas in their books to highlight certain aspects of the interconnection between Shastras and Jyotish. I personally believe that Sri K.N. Rao's book titled Astrology and Karma in mid 1990s was excellent. Other astrologers such as Sri R.G Rao have used Puranas splendidly. Another concept that is talked about in Puranas is our intellect getting influenced by previous karmas, it is termed Buddhi Karma-anusarine. Just as the practical application of Sanskrit grammar is to be proved with examples, Jyotish concepts should also work in real life that proves the validity of sootras or aphoristic rules given in Jyotish classics. In a similar way, why not "Prayoga Pramanam Jyotisham." Prayoga is experiment or trial, Pramanam is proof or evidence, Jyotish is Hindu astrology. Jyotish rules needs to be applied and proven with real cases. See the case of a person suffering from debilitating headaches in the book. Mesha (Aries) rasi is the first sign of kaalapurusha that indicates head. When afflicted it indicates injury or problems in the head region of the body. Jyotish is art of analysis that is helped by experience and intuition. The excellent compilation of Graha yogas by Sages suggests that these were tested in their times and are empirical in nature. I show examples of 60 horoscopes with varying degree of analysis to prove that Jyotish works and the rules given by Sages are empirical. Most birth times are very accurate. The personalities that I cover range across the entire spectrum: good, bad, ugly, criminals, sports stars, frauds, politicians, ordinary people, engineers, doctors, religious leaders, twins, children with health issues, musicians and eccentric characters. I analyze Orlando nightclub shooting on June 12, 2016 and terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. I discuss BPHS Chapter 24, Sloka 90 in detail. I give examples to prove its validity.
