The book deals with attitudes of pupils in Carinthia and Slovenia concerning neighboring countries and languages, national consciousness and minorities, Europe and the European Union as well as the relationships between Carinthia and Slovenia and their history. Building upon these insights various articles illustrate the narratives arising from the history of both countries, the role of bi- and multilingualism in border regions and implications for "modern" concepts of minority protection.
