Notă biografică

Amelia De Mello is a dual national Brazilian/Portuguese. She was born and grew up in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, where she worked as a Speech Therapist. She lived in Egypt, Finland, and Tanzania where she worked as a Primary teacher in American and International Schools. Amelia published a fairy tale called "A Menina dos Cabelos" in Brazil under Maria Amelia Orttigão. The book was awarded the stamp "Altamente Recomendável" (Highly Recommended) from FNLIJ, 'Fundação National do Livro Infanto Juvenil', which is the Brazilian branch of IBBY, International Board on Books for Young Children. This means Amelia's book was in the Brazilian IBBY Honour List. The book is now out of print. It will be published in English by the end of this year. Amelia currently lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband. Their two grown up children live in Los Angeles, California.
