Kilroy

Autor Kevin L. Newberry Editat de Rob Behr
en Limba Engleză Paperback
Roy Killion, AKA Kilroy, is the country's top counter-terrorism agent. Already recommended to lead the new, elite, Joint Departmental Operations Terrorist Taskforce, or JDOTT, consisting of the best counter-terrorism warriors in the world, an imminent threat accelerates its operational status. Roy is comfortable with things that are accelerated, it's a part of his mental condition which he maintains control of while using it to its greatest effect. An Israeli Massod agent posing as an informant to the British Secret Intelligence Service reveals a new, united, terrorist paramilitary organization that will be led by a general of intelligence from a member state that is but one providing multi lateral support to the new Islamic Jihad Alliance. Support also comes from an unsuspected source complicit with geopolitical aspirations. Prior to his selection to lead JDOTT, Roy is being investigated for the required security clearance without his knowledge. The very capable and beautiful female FBI agent tasked with the clearance investigation also has a rather interesting brother. When Roy is not contracting to the CIA, Diplomatic Security Service or Homeland Defense Department, he runs a security and protection service. Nestled on forty acres close to the Potomac River, his facility has three different firing ranges where folks are taught to shoot and train for qualification of their concealed carry licenses. Roy's mentor, a former Marine Force-Recon sniper assists Roy in the operation of KS&P. He's also directly responsible for the events that lead Roy from being a young observer for Naval Intelligence to Kilroy, one of the world's most lethal operators. Over time, Roy's abilities as a sniper/counter-sniper are unparalleled even by the best Marine Corps Scout/Snipers, including his mentor, Greg Wyatt. Because of his mental condition, Roy consults with a therapist. A rather unique physician who is also an avid sport shooter, Dr. Robert Nochreiner is a part-time psychiatric consultant to the CIA. The doctor is instrumental in a chain of events that leads Roy on his first mission immediately upon becoming the new field commander of JDOTT. Recruitment of personnel begins concurrent to it, and of course Roy wouldn't think of leading JDOTT without Greg Wyatt watching his back. Selection of further personnel follows and before training can commence, several of JDOTT's newest members are involved in a terrorist takedown on the Washington D.C. beltway, including a member of Her Majesty's Secret Service seconded to JDOTT. The author details the tools of the trade through his thirty-five years of active sport shooting and beyond with hunts during his youth. Having manufactured his own ammunition for twenty-eight of those years provides his unique insights into ballistics and weaponry with detailed clarity you just won't find in similar genre novels. The action sequences are authentic and fast paced so don't be surprised if you can't put the novel down before reaching the last page. As deadly serious as the occupation of counter-terrorism is, you'll find good humor in the banter between its characters throughout the novel. A dedicated bachelor, Roy will also find his way into romance and sex, with one such occurrence threatening the relationship he just settled into. As JDOTT trains at Roy's small ranch in Texas, the heat gets turned up to full flame where only warriors like those of JDOTT can extinguish it.
