Kindred Spirits

Annie Harbor is abandoned by her mother at a young age, and left only with a note which mentions, "Call your aunt Rachel. I think she will want you." Now in her twenties, Annie is a waitress at a truck stop diner where her Aunt is now the manager. One night she discovers one of Wells' books. She starts reading; finding she can scarcely put it down. She becomes further intrigued when she sees a picture of him on the internet; at once entranced with those haunted, yet gentle eyes. She writes him a letter, and sends it before she loses the nerve. Love at first read? I must be insane

Still, she feels compelled to take the plunge.
