A former pastor, Steve founded and chairs Men's Leadership Ministries, which focuses on equipping men for spiritual leadership. He is a frequent speaker for Promise Keepers and many other events throughout the nation. Steve holds a master's degree from Western Seminary and a doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Mary, have two adult sons and a daughter and live in the Dallas area.
