Rhoisin Hobbs was born and bred in London. After the early death of her mother, Rhoisin has strong reasons to believe that her father, whom she has never met, was born and brought up in Knockramore, Killalee, County Sligo, in the West of Ireland. Miread Devlin is a native of Killalee, County Sligo, not far from Knockramore. Tired of the bleak confinement of Killalee, Miread goes to Dublin in search of a job. At first it appears that the two girls are poles apart, but as the story unfolds, the reader slowly becomes aware that they do have a very important connection...
