Notă biografică
I have two years of English at the University of Houston. In high school, I was fortunate to have English teachers who were very passionate about the subject. They challenged and inspired me greatly. My first awareness of creative writing was in the fifth grade. One day my class went down the hall to another classroom. The classroom belonged to a teacher who was touted as an English expert. The lesson was creative writing. We spent two days with her, learning all about creative writing. And I realized I had been using creative writing all along. In the third grade, one of our assignments was to write a story. Mine was about a snow man similar to Frosty. Well, it got honorable mention. My teacher liked it very much. I am very creative with a vivid imagination. I have always written little stories and songs since I was a kid. Every now and then I fancied myself being a writer. It wasn't until 2004 and twenty-six years of age that I knew I wanted to write books. But I didn't have a real good idea for a story until 2006. And I didn't begin writing it until 2008, when I had just become unemployed. With a distraught mind and plenty of spare time, I began writing nonstop for hours. It is clear to me that writing books is what I want to do. It is what I enjoy doing. I like the idea of contributing to the literary world. And I like the idea of inspiring people and touching them. I am inspired to write, and I know I can inspire people who read what I write. I grew up in SouthEast Houston, and that is where I currently live. Since the 80's, it has been a predominately Hispanic part of Houston. Mexican culture and art is very colorful and spiritual. I know it has influenced me creatively. I have always socialized and surrounded myself with other creative and artistic people. We share ideas and influence one another. Since I was a kid, I always wrote comedy skits, songs, raps, and stories. Although, growing up, my family never encouraged my creative and artistic attributes. They mainly pushed and stressed the old classical go to college and become a businessman, lawyer, engineer or doctor idealogy. Deep down, I knew that wasn't me. I sometimes feel that's the reason it took me this long to figure out that writing books was what I wanted to do in life. Oh well, timing is everything I suppose.
